Our Beliefs

Our beliefs are rooted in the truth of God's Word and centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. They provide the foundation for our faith, our teaching, and the way we live as followers of Jesus.

  • The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God.

It is true, trustworthy, and the foundation for how we live, lead, and follow Jesus. We don’t approach Scripture as something to edit or adapt to culture.

We submit to it, trusting that God’s truth leads to life.

    (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 119:105, Isaiah 40:8)

  • God

We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God is holy, loving, just, and full of mercy. He is the Creator of all things and is actively involved in the world today.

    (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Isaiah 6:3, Psalm 145:8-9)

  • Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He walked this earth fully God and fully man.

He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again.

Through Him alone, we find forgiveness, freedom, and new life.

Jesus is not just a teacher. We believe He is Savior and Lord. Following Him transforms everything in our lives.

    (John 1:1-14, Colossians 1:15-20, Philippians 2:5-11, Romans 5:8)

  • The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active today.

He leads us, empowers us, convicts us, comforts us, and transforms us to become more like Jesus. We depend on the Spirit in every part of our lives and our church.

We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit described in Scripture remain active today and are intended for the building up of the Church, the advancement of the Gospel, and the glory of Jesus.

    (John 14:16-17, John 16:13-14, Acts 1:8, Galatians 5:22-23)

  • Humanity

We believe every person is created in the Image of God with inherent dignity, value, and purpose.

At the same time, all of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s design. Because of that, we all need grace.

No one is too far gone. No one is beyond redemption.

    (Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 3:23, Psalm 139:13-14, Ephesians 2:1-5)

  • Salvation

We believe salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. It cannot be earned through good works, religious activity, or personal effort. It is freely given through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

When we repent of our sin and place our faith in Jesus, we are forgiven, made new, and restored into relationship with God.

We believe salvation is experienced in three dimensions:

Past Tense — We Have Been Saved

Through faith in Jesus, we are forgiven of our sins, justified before God, and declared righteous through Christ.

Present Tense — We Are Being Saved

God continues His transforming work in us through the Holy Spirit. Following Jesus is a lifelong journey of becoming more like Him.

Future Tense — We Will Be Saved

One day Jesus will return, make all things new, and fully complete the work He began in us. We look forward to eternal life with Him and the restoration of all things.

Salvation is not merely about going to heaven someday. It is about being reconciled to God, transformed by His presence, and becoming the people He created us to be.

    (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-10, Titus 3:5, 1 Corinthians 1:18, Philippians

    2:12-13, Romans 13:11)

  • Baptism

We believe baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation.

While baptism does not save us, it is the biblical response of obedience for every follower of Jesus after placing their faith in Him. Through baptism, believers publicly identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and declare their commitment to follow Him.

At The Well, we practice believer's baptism by immersion because we believe it best reflects the pattern and symbolism found in Scripture. We celebrate baptism as a powerful step of faith and a public declaration that Jesus has changed a person's life.

    (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:38-41, Romans 6:3-4, Colossians 2:12)

  • Communion

We believe Communion is a sacred reminder of Christ's sacrifice and a celebration of the new covenant established through His death and resurrection.

When we take Communion, we remember what Jesus has done, proclaim His Gospel, and look forward to His return.

Communion does not save us, but it helps us remember the One who does. At The Well, we practice Communion weekly because we believe Jesus should remain at the center of everything we do.

In the early Church, believers regularly gathered around the Lord's Table as a central part of their worship, fellowship, and devotion to Christ. We believe the regular practice of Communion helps keep our hearts anchored in grace, cultivates gratitude, calls us to self-examination, and continually reminds us that our hope is found in Jesus alone.

Every week, we pause to remember His body given for us, His blood shed for us, and His promise to return for us.

    (Luke 22:19-20, Acts 2:42, Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

  • Use of Spiritual Gifts

We believe the Holy Spirit empowers every believer with spiritual gifts to serve others and build up the Church. We believe God is still active today, working in both ordinary and extraordinary ways according to His will.

At The Well, we seek to create space for the Holy Spirit to move while remaining anchored in Scripture and committed to Biblical unity and order.

We approach spiritual gifts with humility, discernment, and a focus on helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus.

We don’t chase experiences. We pursue Jesus and trust the Spirit to move.

    (1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12:4-8, Ephesians 4:11-13, 1

    Corinthians 14:1-40)

  • The Church

We believe the Church is not a building. It’s people.

It is a community of believers committed to following Jesus together, growing in faith and bringing hope to the world.

At The Well, we exist to help people encounter Jesus, be refreshed in His presence and become people who refresh others.

    (Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:24-25, Ephesians 4:15-16, Matthew 16:18)

  • Life Change

We believe following Jesus leads to transformation. We don’t just believe God’s truth. We are transformed by it.

God invites us into a better way of living. One marked by love, holiness, freedom, and purpose. Following Jesus is not just about adding Him to what we are already doing, it’s about fully surrendering our lives to Him!

Transformation is a journey, and we walk it together.

    (Romans 12:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 5:16-25, Philippians 1:6)

  • Marriage, Sexuality, and Relationships

We believe God created marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman, and that His design for sexuality is good and leads to life.

We also believe every person, regardless of story, struggle, or background, is deeply loved by God and Welcome at The Well.

We are committed to both truth and grace: Holding to biblical conviction while creating a place where people can encounter Jesus and take their next step toward Him.

    (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6, Ephesians 5:21-33, John 8:1-11)

  • Eternity

We believe eternity is real. We believe those who place their faith in Jesus Christ will spend eternity with God in His presence.

We also believe Scripture teaches the reality of eternal separation from God for those who reject Him. Hell is real, and because God loves people, He has made a way through Jesus for every person to be reconciled to Him.

God's desire is not condemnation but redemption. He longs for people to know Him, receive His grace, and experience eternal life.

Because eternity is real, we live with urgency, hope, compassion, and a deep desire to help people encounter Jesus.

    (John 3:16-18, Matthew 25:46, Revelation 21:1-4, Revelation 20:11-15)

  • Tithing and Generosity

We believe everything we have belongs to God, and generosity is a natural response to His generosity toward us. We believe giving is an act of worship, trust, and partnership in God's mission.

At The Well, we encourage believers to grow in generosity and to prayerfully steward their resources in ways that honor God and advance His Kingdom.

We believe biblical tithing is a principle that teaches us to put God first, while also recognizing that the New Testament consistently calls believers beyond obligation and toward joyful, sacrificial generosity.

We will never pressure, manipulate, shame, or coerce people into giving.

We want people to experience the freedom and joy that comes from generosity, not the burden of guilt.

You belong here before you ever give a dollar.

    (Malachi 3:10, Matthew 6:21, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, Acts 20:35)

  • Unity

We believe Jesus calls His Church to be marked by love and unity.

While Christians may differ on secondary matters of doctrine, style, or preference, we are united by our faith in Jesus Christ.

We refuse to build our identity by criticizing other churches, ministries, or believers. We celebrate every church that faithfully proclaims the Gospel and seek to reflect the unity Jesus prayed for.

We believe unity is not uniformity. It is diverse people centered around a common Savior.

    (John 17:20-23, Ephesians 4:1-6, Psalm 133:1, Romans 12:18)

  • The Mission

We believe every follower of Jesus is called to participate in God's mission.

Jesus does not simply save us from something. He saves us for something.

We are called to love our neighbors, serve our communities, share the Gospel, make disciples, and bring the hope of Jesus wherever we go.

At The Well, we desire to become people who are refreshed by Jesus and who refresh others.

    (Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Matthew 5:14-16, Proverbs 11:25)

  • Leadership

We believe leadership in the Church is a calling to serve, not a platform for power.

Jesus modeled leadership through humility, sacrifice, and service, and we believe church leaders should do the same.

We are committed to cultivating healthy leadership marked by integrity, accountability, transparency, and love for people.

Leadership exists to equip, shepherd, and serve God's people. Not control them.Leadership Structure

The Well Church operates under a Pastor-Led, Elder-Protected, Board-Governed model:

    • Pastor-Led — The Lead Pastor provides vision, direction, and day-to-day leadership.

    • Elder-Protected — Elders provide spiritual oversight, accountability, doctrinal protection, and shepherding care.

    • Board-Governed — The Board provides legal, financial, and fiduciary oversight to ensure integrity and stewardship.

This structure exists to promote health, accountability, transparency, and long-term faithfulness to the mission God has entrusted to The Well Church.

“Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you… not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.” — 1 Peter 5:2-3

    (Mark 10:42-45, 1 Peter 5:1-4, Ezekiel 34:1-16, 1 Timothy 3:1-7)

  • Elders

At The Well Church, we believe God has established Elders to provide spiritual oversight, protection, wisdom, accountability, and care for the church.

Elders will meet the biblical standards outlined in Scripture and are called to shepherd God’s people with humility, integrity, and servant-hearted leadership. Their primary responsibility is to protect sound doctrine, care for the spiritual health of the church, guard the mission and values of the church, and support the work of the Lead Pastor.

We believe the New Testament presents a model of shared Elder leadership rather than leadership concentrated in a single individual. While the Lead Pastor serves as the primary spiritual leader and vision carrier of the church, he serves alongside and under the accountability of a team of Elders who help provide wisdom, protection, and oversight.

Elders are not called to rule over people but to shepherd people, following the example of Jesus, the Chief Shepherd.

    We Believe Elders Should:

    • Shepherd and care for the spiritual health of the church.

    • Protect the church from false teaching and unhealthy influences.

    • Guard the mission, doctrine, and culture of the church.

    • Pray for and minister to the needs of the congregation.

    • Provide counsel, accountability, and wisdom to church leadership.

    • Lead by example through character, humility, and faithfulness.

    (1 Timothy 3:1–7, Titus 1:5–9, 1 Peter 5:1–4, Acts 20:28)

  • Priesthood of the Believers

We believe every follower of Jesus has been uniquely gifted and called by God.

Ministry is not reserved for pastors or church staff. Every believer has a role to play in God's Kingdom.

The Church is healthiest when every person discovers their purpose and uses their gifts to serve others and glorify God.

    (1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 2:10, Romans 12:4-8, 1 Corinthians 12)
